| IMTK9SAR is dedicated to the promotion of bloodhounds with Law Enforcement. Three of our handlers use bloodhounds exclusively for Mantrailing. Our handlers started this unit, due to a need for a K9 organization, specific to bloodhounds, as search dogs. Our K9's are trained solely in Mantrailing. We do not cross train our bloodhounds. We are excited to welcome our only HRD dog to our unit. (info on K9 Team page) Our bloodhounds are trained to find missing persons in wilderness settings or urban (city) environment. A great deal of our training is done in the city, with a variety of contamination, (people, animals, vehicles, etc) as well as working our K9's in a wilderness setting. We try to train in such a manner that may mimic real life situations, in the event of a missing person, whether they are elderly, children, or mentally impaired. Our HRD specialist also trains in this manner, which ensures that the K9 is prepared for any type of situation. Our team does not self deploy. We will only respond at the request of, and/or with permission of the agency in charge. Our motto is: Your finish is only as good as your start! |
